Goshen Global Vision, a restoration partner for the TerraFund for Africa Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative in the Western Region of Ghana, monitors out planted native, fruits and economic tree seedlings for agroforestry in Cocoa landscapes and afforestation in the Subri River Forest Reserve for the Agriculture and Forest Landscapes restoration project, 2022. After visiting some selected beneficiary farms, we observed that majority of trees planted had survived, recording a 94% survival rate of all trees planted.
This is done collaboration with the Community volunteers from all beneficiary communities, who through the restoration initiative, has received training from Goshen Global Vision in monitoring of outplanted tree seedlings by taking geotagged photo, using the vernier calipers to check for the new diameter of the tree and finally uses the tape measure to check for the new height against when planted.
These Volunteers are excited about the knowledge they have acquired through the initiative and are actively using it in the regular monitoring of trees planted by Cocoa farmers in their communities to make their communities and the whole world a better place to be!
