At Goshen Global Vision-GGV, our commitment to planting extends far beyond the seedling stage! We understand that restoring landscapes and nurturing our environment is an ongoing journey. Just like babies need care to thrive, our planted tree seedlings require proper nurturing to flourish in their surroundings.
Monitoring is key! We’re dedicated to ensuring the survival and growth of every planted tree. Our team regularly visits these sites, assessing growth, and ensuring replacements are made when needed. Recently, in partnership with NADMO EKMA, Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly and NADMO Shama (National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO)), GGV undertook a two-day monitoring initiative within EKMA, Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA), and SHAMA DISTRICT ASSEMBLY. This project, supported by U.S. Forest Service, focuses on Urban and Peri-urban forestry, titled ‘Greening Sekondi-Takoradi, Twin City.’
During this exercise, participating students from Adiembra Senior High School, Shama Senior High School, St. Mark Anglican Basic School, Effia Methodist Basic School and Assakae Whindo Basic School were educated on using Calipers to measure diameter growth, using a tape measure to track new heights, and employing GPS machines to record tree coordinates. It’s our proactive step towards nurturing a greener future!
